New antiplasmodial drugs and pharmacological approaches

  • Activity

The team "New antiplasmodial drugs and pharmacological approaches", composed by chemists, biologists, pharmacologists and medical doctors with diverse and complementary scientific backgrounds and skills, is interested in the research (design, synthesis, activity assays and mechanistic studies) of antimalarial drug candidates.

This work focuses on different pharmacological approaches with in particular the study of the modes of action of selected molecules and the understanding of the mechanisms of resistance developed by Plasmodium, the parasite responsible of malaria. The molecules synthesized for their biological interest are also valued for other therapeutic targets.
This team is, since January 1, 2021, labeled by the Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale (INSERM).
