Yves Canac obtained his PhD degree in 1996 under the supervision of Prof. Guy Bertrand in Toulouse (France). After a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Andrea Vasella at the ETH-Zürich (Switzerland), he entered the CNRS in 1998 at the University of Paris XI-Orsay (France). In 2001, he moved to the University of California-Riverside (UCR), taking part at the foundation of the joint Research Chemistry Laboratory UCR/CNRS. In 2006, he came back to Toulouse at the CNRS Laboratory of Coordination Chemistry. In 2014, he was appointed Director of Research at CNRS. His research activities are mainly focused on the design, the coordination chemistry and the catalytic properties of novel electron-rich carbon ligands (carbenes, ylides) and electron-poor cationic phosphorus ligands (carbeniophosphines).
