Jean-Baptiste SORTAIS


Jean-Baptiste Sortais was born in 1979 in Clermont-Ferrand, France. He was educated at the “École Normale Supérieure de Lyon” (France). He received his MSc in organic chemistry from the “Université Louis Pasteur”, Strasbourg, where he completed his PhD in 2007 under the supervision of Dr. M. Pfeffer, working on the synthesis of chiral cycloruthenated complexes and their catalytic applications. After a first postdoctoral stay with Pr. J. E. Bäckvall at Stockholm University, he then joined the group of Pr. G. Erker at the University of Münster. In 2009, he was appointed as an associate professor at the Université de Rennes 1, Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes, in the group Organometallics : Materials and Catalysis in Rennes. In 2017, he was promoted full professor at the Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse 3, performing his research at the Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination (LCC-CNRS). His research is mainly focused on the design and development of new complexes based on earth abundant metals for catalysis.
