Anne-Marie Caminade, Emeritus, Exceptional Class Research Director (DRCE CNRS), elected as a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Class IV “Natural Sciences”

This election by the European Academy of Sciences and Arts as an ordinary member recognizes sustained academic excellence in a specific field as well as international renown. The international dimension of Anne-Marie Caminade’s work is undeniable, as in the field of dendrimers, she is one of the most productive individuals in the world. She is the originator of phosphorous dendrimers, on which she has developed highly significant and high-quality fundamental research, before demonstrating the wide range of applications of these species in diverse fields such as catalysis (metallic or organic), materials science, and biology/nanomedicine. Anne-Marie Caminade was nominated by Evamarie Hawkins and Pierre H. Dixneuf.

The induction ceremony of Rinaldo Poli, Senior lecturer of the Laboratory of Coordination Chemistry (LCC Toulouse), as a member of the Academia Europaea in the Chemical Sciences section, took place on October 15, 2025, in Barcelona.

The Academia Europaea was established in 1988 and is the Pan-European Academy of Sciences Humanities and Letters.

The object of Academia Europaea is the advancement and propagation of excellence in scholarship in the humanities, law, the economic, social, and political sciences, mathematics, medicine, and all branches of natural and technological sciences anywhere in the world for the public benefit and for the advancement of the education of the public of all ages in the aforesaid subjects in Europe.

Academia Europaea is a European, non-governmental association acting as an Academy. Our members are scientists and scholars who collectively aim to promote learning, education and research. Kevin Antraygues Awarded the Rising Star ‘Research’ Prize by Toulouse Faculty of Health

The Toulouse Faculty of Health hosted the inaugural Rising Star Awards Ceremony, celebrating academic excellence, pedagogical innovation, and student engagement. The event took place on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

This first edition of the Rising Star Awards highlighted collective intelligence and commitment to health. Hosted by Fabrice Muscari, Dean of the Faculty of Health, the ceremony was attended by Odile Rauzy, President of the University of Toulouse, and Fabien Pelous, former international rugby player and sponsor of the 2026 edition.

The Rising Star Awards embody the core values of the Faculty of Health: excellence in education, innovative research, and strong societal engagement, recognizing initiatives that contribute to the future of healthcare.

Kevin Antraygues, an Associate Professor, conducts his research within the Team M “Dendrimers and small therapeutic molecules” at the Laboratory of Coordination Chemistry (LCC). His research focuses on the synthesis of antibiotic-siderophore hybrids to combat Gram-negative bacterial infections. He was awarded the “Research” Prize, which aims to foster scientific innovation. This prize honors young researchers for the quality and impact of their work.

Anne Robert awarded the Labbé Prize by the French Academy of Sciences

Anne Robert, CNRS Research Director at the LCC.

Anne Robert is interested in chemotherapy for diseases in which biological metals, iron and copper, play a decisive role. She has developed a specific copper chelator that is a candidate drug active in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease and Wilson’s disease. Recently, she synthesized a molecule effective against malaria resistant to current drugs.

The Doctor Henri Labbé and Madame Henri Labbé Prize, awarded by the Labbé Foundation of the French Academy of Sciences, is an annual prize (€4,000) created in 1948 for the field of biological chemistry and nutrition.

The formal award ceremony of the French Academy of Sciences took place on Tuesday, October 28, under the dome of the Institut de France in Paris.

Corentin Bouvier awarded the FEBS Journal Prize for his PhD research

Corentin Bouvier was awarded the FEBS Journal Prize on 23 May 2025 during the 4th Annual Meeting of the ProteoCure COST Action, held in Heraklion, Greece. The prize recognises the excellence of his scientific poster presentation.

Now a postdoctoral researcher, Corentin Bouvier received this award for the work he carried out during his PhD within the “Dendrimers and Heterochemistry” team (Team M) at the Laboratory of Coordination Chemistry (LCC). His research focused on the design of PROTACs, hybrid molecules that trigger the targeted degradation of proteins, with the aim of restoring the sensitivity of tumour cells to proteasome inhibitors. He specifically investigated the E3 ligase TRIM24, identified as a key player in resistance mechanisms involving proteaphagy, a protein degradation pathway hijacked by certain cancer cells. By targeting TRIM24, the objective is to block this adaptive mechanism and enhance therapeutic efficacy.

This work was carried out in collaboration with B-molecular, the Cancer Research Center of Toulouse (CRCT), PharmaDev, and the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute.

Bernard Meunier awarded the China-France Prize of the chinese chemistry society.

Bernard Meunier, Emeritus Research Director at the LCC, is recognized for his outstanding scientific contributions, in particular his work at the interface of organic, coordination and bioorganic chemistry. In addition to his significant impact on the field of chemistry, this prize rewards his long-standing commitment to strengthening scientific collaboration between China and France. Bernard Meunier has promoted joint research initiatives and successful partnerships between French and Chinese institutions. He has played a key role in advancing chemistry as a global discipline.

The official presentation of the China-France Chemistry Lectureship Award will take place in China, and will be accompanied by a lecture tour to China.

Anne-Marie Caminade awarded the ‘Sacconi Medal 2024’ by the Italian Chemical Society

Anne-Marie Caminade, deputy director of the Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination (LCC-CNRS) in Toulouse since 2021, is a senior researcher (DRCE CNRS).

She is working in the field of phosphorus-containing dendrimers. This research area, initiated by Anne-Marie Caminade, finds its main applications in catalysis, materials science and biology/nanomedicine.

Its scientific output is remarkable. It maintains numerous national and international collaborations, particularly with Italy.

Each year, the ‘Luigi Sacconi Foundation’ and the Inorganic Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society award the ‘Luigi Sacconi Medal’ to an outstanding scientist who has achieved excellent results in chemistry (for the list of winners, see https://www.cerm.unifi.it/sacconi-medal).

This is the 2nd foreign chemical company to award a prize to Anne-Marie Caminade (Germany in 2022, Italy in 2024).
