LCC participation in the EuCOMC 2025 European conference

The Coordination Chemistry Laboratory (LCC) contributed to the EuCOMC conference, held from July 6 to 10, 2025, in Bern, Switzerland. EuCOMC is the major European conference on organometallic chemistry, held every two years.

Vincent César (Team A, “Molecular design of transition metal pre-catalysts”) and Antoine Simmonneau (Team N, “Small Molecules Activation”) represented the LCC at this conference.

Six Oral Contributions at the International Symposium on Green Chemistry in La Rochelle

The Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination (LCC) took an active part in the International Symposium on Green Chemistry (ISGC), held last week in La Rochelle. This major international event, organized in France every two to three years, brings together the global scientific community around the latest advances in green and sustainable chemistry. The LCC made a strong contribution with six oral presentations, highlighting the diversity and excellence of its research. This significant presence reflects the laboratory’s commitment to ecological transition and its visibility within the international scientific community.

Project Title: « Hydrogénation Asymétrique : catalyseurs à base de molybdène – HydrA »

For the eighth consecutive year, CNRS Chimie has renewed its support for young chemists by launching the Emergence@CNRSChimie2025 call for proposals.

The objective of this call is to provide better support for researchers or assistant professors by funding a postdoctoral grant for an innovative project compared to the state of the art and by encouraging risk-taking.

Study published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.

In order to develop new fluorinated molecules with applications in healthcare, agriculture or even for batteries, it is necessary to split the strong carbon-fluorine bond. This is achieved by using electron-rich metallic species that are difficult to manipulate and are based on scarce and sometimes toxic chemical elements. Scientists have shown that simple phosphorus-based agents are capable of breaking down these carbon-fluorine bonds in a similar way to metals. This work opens the way to more sustainable synthesis of organofluorinated compounds.

Study published as a VIP article in the journal Angewandte Chemie.

The peculiar reactivity of [CpMn(CO)₂(N₂)] (Cp=η⁵-cyclopentadienyl) is revisited to shed light on the proposed nucleophilic attack of PhLi on its N₂ ligand. Our study shows that such reactivity doesn’t happen while the attack of the carbanion on CO is favored, albeit giving rise to a very labile compound. The latter decomposes above −20 °C into a N₂-free phenyl manganate that was erroneously proposed to be an anionic phenyldiazenido complex.

These findings offer new perspectives for the catalytic transformation of diazote into high-value-added compounds.

The LCC was honored at the 44th International Congress on Coordination Chemistry held in Rimini, Italy, in early September.
