Ultradispersed Metal Catalysts for C1 Chemistry: Linking Structure and Reactivity
The development of efficient and sustainable catalysts requires understanding how their structure evolves from synthesis to operating conditions. This presentation explores different strategies to control the dispersion of supported metals, from isolated atoms and clusters to nanoparticles.
However, the catalyst designed during synthesis is not necessarily the one operating under reaction conditions. In situ characterization is used to investigate structural transformations and the migration of metal species across different length scales. These changes are then related to catalytic performance in several C1 reactions, including the water-gas shift reaction, CO2 methanation, and methane decomposition.
Future work will build on this approach by combining the control of metal dispersion, the study of catalyst dynamics under operating conditions, and active-site identification. The objective is to strengthen the link between catalyst design, characterization, and catalytic performance, thereby supporting the development and optimization of new catalytic systems for C1 chemistry.
