A series of Fe(II) Hofmann-type clathrates with redox-active ligands reveals a bell-shaped relationship between redox potential and spin crossover temperature.
This work uncovers how electronic ligand tuning modulates spin state, crystal symmetry, and electron transfer, rationalized through Marcus theory.
